Hi! meet Chidinma Miriam Dennis, She is from Abia State Nigeria, she is single and a student of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture Umudike in Abia State, Studying Economics. She is a Knee amputee, it happened in Kogi State where she stays with her parents and siblings.
On the 27 May 1992, Being Children's day. She was at home and did not go the stadium for the Children's day celebration, one of her neighbors came and ask her to come and help her take care of  her baby because she was busy and her baby was disturbing her.
Little Chidinma went with her younger sister to the neighbor's house to help her take care of the baby, when the woman was through with her chore and little Chidinma was about to go, the woman gave her and her sister cashew and, the woman's husband younger brother who came visiting met Chidinma and her sister on their way home and collected the cashew nut from them, she went and reported it to the woman who ask the boy to give back the cashew nut to them which he did.
Later that same day, the said boy went to Chidinma's house with a machete in his hand, he met her in front of her house playing and he started beating her claiming that his brother's wife insulted him because of her. She could not fighting back because she was afraid the boy will kill her with the machete and beside that, the boy was older than her.
She tried and escaped but the boy pursue her with the machete and when he couldn't catch her, he threw the machete on her and it landed on her right leg giving her a very deep cut that led to the amputation of her right knee.

b+c 9ja....

IT IS TODAY TUESDAY and TOMORROW WEDNESDAY.
Massive call blitz to BAMANGA TUKUR.
We have FAITH in him. We believe he can end all these discriminations against us.
How many years will it take them to evolve the Disability Bill into an Act? How long will it take us to have our own Nigeria Disability Rights Commission?
In 2007, I challenged the then Attorney General of the Federation Chief Michael Aondoakaa during a public lecture held by Unilorin in his honour. This was before thousands of distinguished personalities who totally aligned with me, insisting it high time they finalize issues on the Bill by enacting it into an Act. The Attorney General there and then swore that IN TWO WEEK TIME, we would be seeing the Disability Act.
From TWO WEEKS, it is now SEVEN YEARS. Yes, SEVEN YEARS has passed and we are still where we were in 2007 despite all the sweat, pains, sleepless nights, etc we people with disabilities have passed through, and are still passing through pushing the Bill. We want the world to know the level of marginalisation, discrimination and dehumanization we are passing through here in Nigeria. Everyone should bombade them with texts, calls, e-mails, etc urging them to enact our Bill into an Act.
This Bill started as far back as 1990. Twenty-three years later, they are still tossing it aside; whereas they enact several other Bills into Acts few months after these Bills are initiated.
We the long neglected people with disabilities are ANGRY. We are NOT taking it anymore. Bombade them today and tomorrow. We believe in Bamanga Tukur. He even has a disable in his family who is a good friend of mine. Though very young, the brother living with disability holds a very respectful political office. It shows he believe in ABILITY IN DISABILITY. Northerners and Muslims have great respect and belief/faith in people with disabilities. Pls bombade Bamanga Tukur, we are over 25million in number and we say NO to the CONTINUOUS OPPRESSION we are daily subjected to at the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development. What do FMWASD know about Disability? What have then done so far to affect our live positively? NOTHING!!! Instead, they're fighting TOOTH and NAIL to ensure FG don't take us out of their control. They are fighting to ensure the Disability Act and evolution of a Commission don't come to fruition. Everywhere we go, they trail after us, destroying every plan, every sweat, every struggle we undertook. God, I'm shedding hot tears.
At this juncture, I remember June/July last year when as the very first Deaf female in the whole of Nigeria, and perhaps West Africa to read Law(you can confirm from Joint National Association of Persons With Disability{JONAPWD} national level and Nigeria National Association of Deaf{NNAD}national level), I approached that Federal Ministry of Women Affairs to assist me to engage a sign language interpreter for my one year Law School course but they turned me down with a letter of regret that stated no reason for the refusal. I am still with that letter and can tender it anytime and anywhere against them. FG government budgets hundreds of millionns into to office yearly for Disability Causes, but they can't even assist me to engage an interpreter which is their responsibility, despite that I'm the first Deaf female to study Law in Nigeria. But they would do anything to ensure we don't get out of their control; because of the money, yes the hundreds and thousands of millions of naira FG yearly disburse to them for our cause. Do you think they are happy when they see enlightened people with disabilities? No, they see us as THREATS and would have preferred we never existed.
Have they ever given us account of how they use the money FG disburse yearly to them for our cause? Now they dared to publish a disclaimer in the national dailies against Chief Eric Ufom, the only renowned activist our disability community ever had whose egalitarian effort is about to liberate us. We are ANGRY! We are saying ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! Please join us make the calls. Read this as posted on JONAPWD listserv:

MESSAGE

I’m a Nigerian with Disabilities, who is one of more than 25.5 million long-neglected or ignored and abused other brothers and sisters Nigerians with Disabilities.
I thank the PDP for signing and ratifying the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
We also Thank H.E. Ambassador Prof. Joy Ogwu, Permanent Representative and our Permanent Mission of Nigeria to the United Nations for their direct involvements, which made Nigeria's signing and ratification of this Human Rights Treaty of the 21st Century, by Nigeria a Reality.
I am humbly and respectfully calling to urge you and the PDP to please Sir, finish up this good job that you started for more than 25.5 million of us, Nigerian with Disabilities.
This bill is for every Nigerian family, including your family because every Nigeria family have one or more people with disabilities in their families.
This bill is for every Nigerian when they age because as you age, you start to become one of us, 25.5 Million Nigerians with Disabilities.
This Bill is for our wounded Nigerians Military men and women and those retired ones.
This bill is for every retired Nigerian civil savant, who are now suffering from one kind of disability to the order.
This bill is also for you because you don't pray to die early. You want to age and as you age you will definitely become one of us.
Therefore, September 23, 2013, the UN High-level Meeting on disability and development, will take place. I humbly and respectfully urge you to please advise President Goodluck Jonathan to sign the Nigerians with Disability bill with a Commission on or before this High Level Meeting
Our HUGE population of more than 25.5 Million, if added to extra populations of our family members, healthcare providers, friends and allies, it made us a very strong political constituency of consequences that can change the outcome of the 2915 Nigerian Presidential Elections.
Please Let Our 25.5 Million People Go.
Give us our Own Ministry or COMMISSION
Remove us From the Ministry of Women Affairs because we don’t belong there.
Did you know that the Ministry of Women Affairs is the ONLY Nigerian Ministry or Group or people who oppose Nigeria signing of the Bill with a Commission?
Did you know that Ministry of women Affairs and Social Development Conducted a Secret Census and drastically reduced our population to 2.3 million?
Did you know that the Ministry of Women Affairs and social Development gave more than 25.5 Million Nigerians with Disabilities ONLY the sum of five hundred thousand Naira, which is less than $4,000 dollars for our annual Convention/Election, feeding, Housing, Convention venue rental, transportations, logistics and many other needs for the Convention?
Is 500, 000 Naira which is less than $4,000.00 the Annual Budget for more than 25.5 Million people”
Please feel free to remove or add your own messages.
Please act quickly and do your part to make this a WIN for 25.5 Million Nigerian disability community. Let's not look back and think of what we should have done but what we DID do!
Throughout the rest of your life, you will always continue to thank God for giving you the mind to join this Call for REAL ACTIONS.
At this point only an ACTION by you in your will get us a positive REACTION in the PDP Headquarters. Make your support known with repeated MASSIVE Phone Calls because doing nothing will not get us anything.

THIS WOULD BE ONE OF OUR MANY OTHER NATIONAL CALL DAYS DEMANDING FROM THE PDP AND OTHERS FOR THE NIGERIANS WITH DISABILITY RIGHTS BILL WITH A COMMISSION TO BE SIGNED BY PRESIDENT GOODLUCK JONATHAN NOW OR NEVER

Let's Unite and Make it Happen!

This is it. We have had enough of more than a decade Continued False Promises about Nigeria doing the right thing by signing the Nigerians with Disability Bill with an essential implementation COMMISSION. We MUST be Freed from the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development.

This is the right time to tell the PDP how we feel about all those false promises which started since the days of President Obasanjo to the Present day. We must not wait for the last minute to unit and start taking REAL POSITIVE ACTIONS for our Freedom.
